TOMMEE TIPPEE CLOSER TO NATURE BABY BOTTLES REVIEW April 19, 2020July 27, 2020 Choosing the right baby bottles for you can be overwhelming. There are so many different brands and designs on the market. Not only do you have to think about the bottles, but then search for a machine and steriliser that fits with that brand. It’s a big decision and for travelling parents, it comes down to practicality. We have used closer to nature bottles all around the world and love them. As soon as I reached my second trimester, like so many other expectant Mothers I began scouring the internet. To learn, research and find products that would suit our lifestyle and price bracket. Tommee Tippee is a well respected brand for a reason. Used by millions of parents, around the world, the majority of the products are affordable for those living on normal incomes. We highly recommend them for use at home and abroad. If you would like to know how to feed your baby abroad, click here. We highly recommend the Tommee Tippee Travel Flask, which warms up your feeds in minutes. WHY TOMMEE TIPPEE CLOSER TO NATURE? The closer to nature range has effectively produced a series of products, that are as similar as possible to mimicking breast feeding. With the most breast like teat ever made, these baby bottles flex like your breast and nipple would. The teat is made from a silicone that even feels like the real thing, encouraging your baby to latch on and The main draw for suing these bottles is that they are affordable and last. As your baby grows you will need to change the teat for all of your baby bottles and that can prove costly, especially if you have a hungry baby! Closer to Nature have 4 different teat sizes and you can pick up a brand new pair from £4.00. These products are global and in most countries with a Western presence you can purchase, top up or add any products your collection as your baby grows. Durable, easy to maintain and colourful, we used these bottles for 15 months before weaning George off baby milk. Feeding George in Gardens by the Bay, Singapore. FEATURES OF CLOSER TO NATURE BABY BOTTLES The award winning teat is unique to Tommee Tippee. Shaped like a breast, the teat allows babies to latch on easily and supports the transition between breast and bottle. It flexes, encourages babies to latch on and are silky soft. You can change them if they get damaged or bitten by tiny teeth and the teats start from as little as £4 a pair. The wide neck bottle makes cleaning easy and the bottles are suitable for use in dishwasher, microwave and steam sterilisation. Their compact shape allows your baby to feed in a natural position and to be closer to Mum, Dad or carer. All Tommee Tippee bottles are BPA-free. If it takes longer than 20 minutes to finish a bottle, your baby tugs at the teat or falls asleep mid-bottle, these are potential signs you may need to increase the teat flow rate. Tommee Tippee offer different flow rates to keep up with your growing baby. And they are all interchangeable with the close to nature bottles! The Closer to Nature teat with anti-colic valve reduces excessive air flow, so little ones ingest more milk and less air. When cleaning your bottles use hot soapy water and then sterilise before use. FUNCTIONALITY These bottles can be used to feed your baby with powder milk or expressed breast milk. Available in two sizes (5oz/150ml and 9oz/260ml) they are easy to store in your handbag, nappy bag or hand luggage. They are practical and functional and we like the coloured version because they are fun. I’ve used them to feed George in all sorts of places, countries and heights. We only ever had to replace the teats and opted for vari flow early on so George decide how much milk he wanted and how fast. Every couple of months we would upgrade the teats but kept and used the original bottles we bought from brand new. Eventually George was able to hold the bottles and feed himself, and did so easily. Even with the larger bottles, it wasn’t a struggle. At home we used the Tommee Tippee Steam Steriliser and abroad, we used a plastic container and sterilising tablets. In hot climates, you are advised to feed your baby water. If they are too young to hold a cup themselves, then you can put water into the baby bottle and encourage them to drink intermittently between milk and water, as when you deem required. *NB You must have purified the water before if giving to babies under 6 months old.
