18 PACKING HACKS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Packing for a trip can be stressful, but these helpful, simple and cheap hacks should help you become better at packing! Since becoming a mother in November, we spent five months of my maternity leave travelling with our son George. This is a compilation of the best tips I’ve learnt along the way. Enjoy! If you have a travel hack that you use that I haven’t mentioned please feel free to write it in the comments section below and share with our readers. ROLL YOUR CLOTHES Roll your clothes instead of folding them. It saves you space and reduces creases. Which is great because Iโ€™m terrible at ironing! It also…

11 TIPS FOR FLYING WITH A BABY | NEWBORN – 6 MONTHS OLD

We first flew with George when he was 12 weeks old and we didn’t hold back! We boarded a 12 hour flight to Singapore and then spent the next three weeks touring Vietnam, before ‘enjoying’ a 14.5 hour flight home. Before we became parents we enjoyed travelling and exploring new places but it wasn’t what ‘defined’ us. Plus as a teacher, we were limited to school holidays and day to day living costs. Whilst on maternity leave and after being pleasantly surprised at how easy (yes I said it) travelling with a new baby is, we decided to use the rest of my time off work as an excuse to…

101ST AIRBORNE MUSEUM | BASTOGNE, BELGIUM

Located in the heart of Bastogne, The 101st Airborne Museum is a fitting tribute to the American outfit, whose courage and sacrifice helped the Allies win WW2. The museum itself features a rich collection of objects from the Second World War, from personal outfit guns to uniforms. Spread across three floors, from the outset it looks very modest, a testament to a humble generation. Many of the items are in excellent condition and members of staff are on hand to answer any questions. The HBO award winning series, ‘Band of Brothers’ helped bring the plight of the 101st Airborne to a new audience. And today, this museum is visited by…

THE EAGLE’S NEST | BERCHTESGADEN, GERMANY

As the Allies rushed through Western Europe following the German defeat on D-Day, one of the grand prizes to be taken was the infamous Eagleโ€™s Nest. This estate, which sat 6,000 feet high in the Alps, had actually been given to Hitler as a 50th birthday present.  It is now a family friendly restaurant and bar, with minimal reference to its previous owner. We visited the famous landmark during our European Road trip with a then, 6 month old baby George. Accessible through long windy roads, with the stunning Alps as a back drop. It is situated atop the Obersalzberg mountains in one of the most beautiful parts of Bavaria, overlooking…

    NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE | SCHWANGAU, GERMANY

Few places on Earth look more like storybook illustrations than Neuschwanstein Castle. With its towers, turrets, frescoes, and throne hall, it looks like it was plucked straight from your favourite fairy tale. And it is. Walt Disney visited the castle with his wife, and was so inspired it became the castle in Cinderella, along with the castle that features in the title credits of every Disney movie. But the story behind this over-the-top palace nestled in the Bavarian Alps is less idyllic. King Ludwig II of Bavaria commissioned the cliffside castle in 1868 after losing his rule during the Austro-Prussian War. He quickly retreated into a private fantasy world, surrounding himself with opulent…
